Bottle Ban Highlights Value of Promo Drinkware

In June 2023, LAX announced a ban on the sale of single-use plastic water bottles, making it the second US airport to do so, following San Francisco in 2019.

Once past the security checkpoint, travelers can still buy water in recyclable containers—or better yet, refill their own reusable containers at the hydration stations that have popped up in airports throughout the country over the past decade.

Overall, Americans purchase about 50 billion water bottles per year, averaging about 13 bottles per month (roughly one every other day) for every person in the United States. That means one person switching to a reusable water bottle has the potential to save an average of 156 plastic bottles annually.

Plus, drinkware is one of the best ways to promote your client’s brand because it’s kept longer than other promo items, yielding more than 1,400 impressions for the average item’s life cycle. According to PPAI research, drinkware was the second highest selling product category for distributors in 2021.

Read on for a handful of the drinkware possibilities, from coveted prestige brands to more practical travel pieces.

On-the-Go Hydration

The Lucas 40 oz. Travel Mug is a portable super-capacity coffee cup for your daily commute. It has double-wall stainless steel construction, and its 18/8 food-grade steel inner wall and copper liner can withstand daily use and keep your drink cold for 30 hours and hot for 18.

Or check out the Elemental Commuter 40oz Tumbler. The narrow base makes it a perfect fit in your car cup holder, and it features an insulated lid with a silicone stopper to prevent spills. The wide straw is perfect for smoothies, milkshakes, or boba, while the triple-wall insulation technology ensures it keeps your drinks hot or cold for hours.

Up your sustainability game with the 40oz Stanley Quencher H2.O FlowState Tumbler. Constructed from recycled stainless steel for sustainable sipping, the Quencher H2.0 offers maximum hydration with fewer refills. Commuting, studio workouts, day trips, or hanging out on your front porch—you’ll want this tumbler by your side. The advanced FlowState lid features a rotating cover with multiple positions, plus a straw opening designed to resist splashes while holding the reusable straw in place.

Back to Basics

The 28 Oz. On The Go Tritan Bottle features an auto-flip spout that deploys with the push of a button. It has capacity markings for easy measuring and tracking, and the screw-on lid is built with a carrying handle and matching textured accent.

For a sturdier aluminum option, the Metis 22 oz. Aluminum Water Bottle is BPA-free, FDA-compliant, and the body comes in your choice of black, silver, or white—with the option of various colored translucent screw-top lids.

For the best of the basics, check out the 26 oz H2go Force. The bottle features a double-wall 18/8 stainless steel thermal construction with copper vacuum insulation, a threaded stainless steel insulated lid, and stainless steel base.

All-Time Favorites

The 25 oz H2go Ranger is a favorite for a reason. The sturdy double-wall 18/8 stainless steel thermal bottle has copper vacuum insulation, a threaded one-touch push-button lid, locking mechanism, and ergonomic carrying handle.

Another rough-and-tumble option, the 20 Oz. Basecamp Tundra Bottle has a powder-coat finish with copper lining, double-wall 18/8 stainless steel, and a proprietary insulated lid.

Or check out the Elemental Classic Insulated 25oz. Bottle, featuring double-wall construction with copper lining for insulation that keeps your beverage cold up to 24 hours or hot up to 12 hours. The slim profile fits in your purse, backpack, or cup holder, and each bottle comes standard with a stainless steel lid with bamboo top accent.

The Best of the Best

The 20 Oz. CORKCICLE Sport Canteen Soft Touch is perfect for the at-home office, tossing in your gym bag, or driving around town. It keeps liquids cold for 25 hours and hot for 12.

The 32oz Hydro Flask Wide Mouth With Flex Cap is big enough for a whole day on the river or on the trails. The large-capacity bottle is made with professional-grade stainless steel, powder coating, and a wider opening for a faster fill.

The Yeti Rambler 26oz Water Bottle is a perennial fan-favorite. It holds the right amount for a day out while still fitting in your backpack. It comes with a color-matching straw cap that’s leak-resistant and easy to carry—thanks to the TripleHaul Handle. And like all Rambler bottles, it’s over-engineered and double-wall insulated to keep your water cold until the last sip. Plus, it’s dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
